Female Pelvic Health

Pelvic discomfort can be uncomfortable, confusing, and upsetting but at Inner Dynamics Physical Therapy we are here to help you. The pelvic region is composed of a multitude of muscles collectively known as the pelvic floor. These muscles run from the pubic bone in the front, to the coccyx in the back. They are responsible for a multitude of various functions including postural support and stability, bladder and bowel control, organ support and sexual functions. These muscles are skeletal muscles that can be affected just like any other skeletal muscle in our body. When affected, you may experience symptoms including vaginal, clitoral or rectal pain, pain before, during or following intercourse, pain with menstruating, constipation, vaginal sensitivity and also changes in bladder and bowel habits. We treat these symptoms to help you restore your overall well-being.

At Inner Dynamics Physical Therapy, we take a full body approach. We decipher, not only what is causing your current discomfort, but also why it developed, and how we can prevent it from returning in the future. We look at your overall strength, endurance, mobility, coordination, and so forth, in order to improve your quality of life.  We have highly qualified doctor of physical therapy clinicians that perform an initial evaluation to determine an effective, individualized plan of care to address your primary concerns. Your first visit will start by discussing your past medical history and your current symptoms in order to have a better understanding of how your pelvic pain affects your day to day functions. A thorough examination and assessment will be performed to determine the optimal treatment approach by determining the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular origins of your pain. We understand you are visiting our office due to the discomfort and pain you have been experiencing so we try to make our initial evaluation and follow up visits as comforting as possible with a nurturing approach. Your physical therapist will take the time to discuss all the findings throughout the exam and how we can work together to restore your well-being.
